Lambing for Home Educated learners (EYFS/KS1)
Back by popular demand is our cade lamb feeding experience, which will be delivered this year by a trusted expert animal welfare team. Up to 100 lambs will be housed in our dedicated lamb barn, where visitors can meet, bottle feed and learn from the experts about caring for lambs and the farm-to-fork story.
Activities:
By joining us, you will:
- Feed a cade lamb
- Participate in our changes in farming, story-focused workshop
- Complete a simple easter themed craft activity
- Have free time to explore the site through both a self-led colour hunt and a sensory landscape trail
Teaching level:
The activities will be taught at a level appropriate for children working at EYFS/Year 1 (aged 3 - 6). Whilst we welcome children outside of this range, you may need to provide differentiation support if you bring children working above/below this level.
Timings:
- Please aim to arrive by 9:30. All activities will start promptly at 10:00. If you are late you may have to wait to join your group until activity two.
- The programme will finish by 14:15
- You will receive an itinerary of your activities at least 1 week before your visit.
Tickets:
- All children/adults must have a ticket to enter the lamb barn
- Our 'Home Educated Child ticket' includes a free non-feeding adult ticket
- Adults who want to feed a lamb should purchase an 'Additional participating child/adult' ticket
- Addittional adults who do not wish to feed a lamb should book a free 'Non-feeding additional adult' ticket
Important Saftey Information:
We are working in partnership with public health and environmental health to ensure our visitors' and animals' welfare. This partnership is producing health and safety guidance and videos which will be distributed to ticket holders closer to the event. We strongly advise that you familiarise yourself with the guidance and get in touch with us.
All visitors to the lamb barn must bring an addittional pair of shoes that you will change into for the duration of your visit to the lamb barn (preferably Wellington boots or similar waterproof footwear).
We strongly advise that anyone who thinks they may be pregnant and babies under 6 months old do not enter the lamb barn at any time. More information as to the risks can be found here: https://www.farmattractions.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Mead-HS-leaflet.pdf.
Following advice from Northamptonshire Public Heath and Environmental Health teams, buggies will not be allowed into the lamb barn at any point. We can accommodate wheelchairs.
